The music
In Part 1, you endured a somewhat technical breakdown of the conceptualization, design, modeling, and animation of this project. This post should be a bit "lighter duty" for you. I needed music for the video, so I made music!
I made this song using Reason Studio and my little midi controller (a small keyboard instrument). Here's what this project looks like inside Reason.

The top section is a virtual rack (because it simulates a hardware rack), which holds all the synths, effects, and utilities. For those who have no idea what that means, synths generate sound, effects manipulate the sound, and utilities are things like mixers or other tools that serve more general purposes.
The bottom section with the horizontal colored lines is where the composition is created. The tiny black dots and lines inside the colored lines are individual notes, basically.
I had the animation done before doing the music, so I knew what length I needed, and I had a good idea of where musical transitions might need to be. I wanted the music to feel a bit technical, but also maybe a bit mysterious and intriguing.
I guess there isn't much more to say. Here's the finished video, with music!
very cool
